Bill Title: Safe and supportive schools and data collection. Requires the department of education (department) to: (1) develop a safe and supportive school framework; (2) create a school monitoring tool; and (3) develop procedures for updating, improving, or refining the safe and supportive school framework and the school monitoring tool. Allows a school corporation, by a vote of the school corporation's governing body, to: (1) implement a safe and supportive school framework; and (2) develop and implement an action plan to create and maintain the safe and supportive school framework. Allows, upon approval, a public school to develop and implement an action plan to create and maintain the safe and supportive school framework. Establishes requirements for an action plan and the posting of action plans. Establishes requirements for the department that include a requirement to establish a safe and supportive school grant program. Establishes the safe and supportive school fund to award grants to school corporations and public schools for the development and implementation of action plans and to provide training to school corporation and public school personnel. Urges the legislative council to assign to an appropriate interim study committee the task of studying school districts, within and outside of Indiana, that have: (1) implemented trauma informed care in the school districts; and (2) worked with community partners to provide systems of care for students. Appropriates: (1) $500,000 to the safe and supportive school fund; and (2) $550,000 for the purpose of funding adverse childhood experience surveying in Indiana through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
