2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dorothy "Dottie" Byrn Spence, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on September 17, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence was born on June 25, 1931, in | ||||||
6 | Gallatin, Tennessee; his parents were Mary and Philip Maynard | ||||||
7 | Byrn; she married George Spence in 1950; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence lived in Alton for over 50 years; | ||||||
9 | she served on the Madison County Board, sold real estate, and | ||||||
10 | devoted countless hours to P.E.O., the Community Service | ||||||
11 | League, and the Easter Seals Society; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence enjoyed spending summers at a | ||||||
13 | cottage in Chautauqua, spending time with her friends, nature, | ||||||
14 | and playing bridge; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence was preceded in death by her | ||||||
16 | husband, George; her sisters, Brodie Shaw and Marion Tobias; | ||||||
17 | and her brother, James Byrn; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence is survived by her daughters, Lisa | ||||||
19 | Spence Huber, Sharon Spence, and Dixie Spence Taylor; her | ||||||
20 | grandchildren, John and Michael Huber (Margaret Rogers), |

1 | Molly, William, and Paul (Teresa Feathers) Salomon, and Abby | ||||||
2 | and Mary Caroline Taylor; and her great-granddaughter, Nora | ||||||
3 | Feathers; therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
6 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Dorothy "Dottie" Byrn | ||||||
7 | Spence; and be it further

8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Dorothy Spence as an expression of | ||||||
10 | our sympathy.
