2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Ronald L. "Sam" Maedge, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on November 5, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Sam Maedge was born in Livingston to Mr. and Mrs. | ||||||
6 | Louis Maedge on April 1, 1941; he served in the U.S. Navy and | ||||||
7 | married Shirley Luttman, but they later divorced; he married | ||||||
8 | Diana Ruth Ray on February 28, 1973, and she later passed away; | ||||||
9 | he married Vicki Umberger in Staunton on October 26, 2006; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Sam Maedge served as the Staunton Township | ||||||
11 | Commissioner for many years; he was also a custodian at | ||||||
12 | Staunton Unit Schools for many years; he was a past Staunton | ||||||
13 | Police Officer and past member of the Staunton Volunteer Fire | ||||||
14 | Department; and

15 | WHEREAS, Sam Maedge was a member of the Net Community | ||||||
16 | Church of Staunton, Staunton VFW Post #1241, and the Township | ||||||
17 | Officials of Illinois; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Sam Maedge was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
19 | his wife, Diana; his brothers, Joe and Bob Maedge; his sisters, | ||||||
20 | Evelyn, Annabelle, and Wanda; his father-in-law and | ||||||
21 | mother-in-law, Blaine and Ruth Ray; and his brothers-in-law and |

1 | sisters-in-law, Joe Ray, Linden Ray, Glenn Ray, and Mike | ||||||
2 | Bellmon; and

3 | WHEREAS, Sam Maedge is survived by his wife, Vicki Maedge; | ||||||
4 | his sons, Tim Smiddy, Ron (Amy) Maedge Jr., and Mike (Becky) | ||||||
5 | Maedge; his stepchildren, Debra (Tom) Gonet, Tami (Randy) Fox, | ||||||
6 | and Kenny (Kim) Carlock; his grandchildren, Landon Maedge, | ||||||
7 | Kinslee Maedge, Briar Maedge, Craig Gonet, Nikki Gonet, Dallas | ||||||
8 | Blose, Terin Leigh, Josh Leigh, Kaylee Carlock, and Kinzley | ||||||
9 | Carlock; nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Wally | ||||||
10 | (Marlene) and Bill (Alice) Maedge; his brothers-in-law and | ||||||
11 | sisters-in-law, Danny and Shirley Ray, Peggy Bellmon, Kathy | ||||||
12 | Ray, George Wolbert, Helen Maedge, and Dick and Sherrill | ||||||
13 | Umberger; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Ronald L. "Sam" Maedge and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
17 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
18 | further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Sam Maedge as an expression of our | ||||||
21 | deepest sympathy.
