2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of James Franklin Duke Sr. of East Moline, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on November 4, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. was born in Moline to Alvin Duke | ||||||
6 | and Vivian LaVerne on July 2, 1926; he was a veteran of the | ||||||
7 | United States Navy; he married Edna Pore at The New Hope | ||||||
8 | Baptist Church in Moline in 1990; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. worked as a Keyway Supervisor at | ||||||
10 | John Deere, Co. and retired after 32 years of service; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. enjoyed going to the fitness center | ||||||
12 | three times a week and cutting the grass at the church; above | ||||||
13 | all, he enjoyed spending time with his family; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
15 | parents; his brother, Alvin; and his sister, Ruth; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. is survived by his wife, Edna; his | ||||||
17 | sons, James F. Duke Jr. and Darin (Danielle) Duke; his | ||||||
18 | daughter, Deborah (Morris) Palmer; his stepsons, Edgar Brown | ||||||
19 | and Vincent (Rachel) Brown; his stepdaughters, Celnea (Arturo) | ||||||
20 | and Cassandra Brown; and his brothers, Austin Duke and Truman |

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
4 | James Franklin Duke Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
5 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
6 | further

7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the family of James Duke Sr. as an expression of | ||||||
9 | our deepest sympathy.
