SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Frederick "Fred" Brean of Ocala, Florida,
who passed away on October 10, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Fred Brean was born in Waukegan to Ines and Albert
Brean on August 20, 1936; he attended West Grade School and
Waukegan Township High School; he attended Marquette
University and joined the United States Air Force in 1955,
where he served for four years; and
WHEREAS, Fred Brean was employed at United Oil; he then
opened his own business, Brean's Citgo; later, he and his wife
purchased the Badger Egg Co. and then opened and operated Ma &
Pa's Corner Store in Waukegan until 1983; he lived in Waukegan
for 48 years before retiring and moving to Hilo, Hawaii; after
spending 12 years there, he and his family moved to Ocala,
Florida; and
WHEREAS, Fred Brean loved and enjoyed his family and loved
bowling with the Silver Rollers in Ocala; he also enjoyed being
a member of Too Your Health Spa, where he exercised three times
a week; he enjoyed keeping a journal from day to day while
operating Ma & Pa's Corner Store, loved to read, and loved
cars; he was an Elk's Club member in Hilo and Ocala; he was a

Moose Lodge member in Waukegan as well as belonging to the
Stick and Rudder Club; he was an avid Cubs and Bears fan; he
was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church, St Patrick's
Church in Wadsworth, and Blessed Trinity in Ocala; and
WHEREAS, Fred Brean was preceded in death by his parents;
his brother, Pauley Brean; his sister, Clara (Dolly) Snider;
and his grandson, Keaka Arruda; and
WHEREAS, Fred Brean is survived by his wife of 54 years,
Suzanne; his son, Patrick Kelly Brean; his daughters, Lou-Anne
(Phil) Wasson, Roseanne Brean, and Roxanne Lynn McCarron; his
brother, Richard (Kathy) Brean; his cousin, Edda Rinfreshi; his
grandchildren, Shawn Wasson, Kimo Arruda, Keone Arruda, Jamie
Lindsey, and Morgan Brean; his great-grandchildren, Kalena
Arruda, Kora Arruda, and Kia Arruda; numerous special nieces
and nephews; and countless friends; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Frederick "Fred" Brean and extend our sincere condolences to
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Fred Brean as an expression of our
