SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John R. Charles Sr. of Waukegan, who
4passed away on October 9, 2018; and
5 WHEREAS, John Charles Sr. joined the United States Navy at
6the age of 16 and served for four years; he married Patricia at
7the Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Waukegan on May 15,
81955; and
9 WHEREAS, John Charles Sr. retired from the U.S. Postal
10Service in Lake Bluff; and
11 WHEREAS, John Charles Sr. was a former parishioner of
12Mother of God Church and a current parishioner at St. Dismas
13Church; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus; in his free
14time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and hosting events for
15family and friends; and
16 WHEREAS, John Charles Sr. was preceded in death by his
17parents, Dode and Evelyn Charles, and his siblings, Paul, Dode,
18Betty, and Rosemary; and
19 WHEREAS, John Charles Sr. is survived by his wife,
20Patricia; his children, John R. (Lynette) Charles Jr., Michael

1F. Charles, and Kay (Ken) Stoinski; his grandchildren, Kelsey,
2Andrew, and Joshua; and his siblings, Frank (Rosemary) Charles
3and Madeline Peters; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6John R. Charles Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of John Charles Sr. as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
