SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is the unalienable right of all citizens to
3keep and bear arms for defense of life, liberty, and property
4under the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United
5States of America and the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of
6the State of Illinois; and
7 WHEREAS, The legislative and executive branches of the
8State of Illinois have unreasonably and consistently
9encroached on the liberty of Illinoisans who wish to exercise
10the rights secured to them under the Second Amendment to the
11Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights of the
12Constitution of the State of Illinois; and
13 WHEREAS, It is the responsibility of all American citizens,
14governmental units, and elected officials to uphold, with equal
15vigor, all of the "unalienable Rights" with which they are
16"endowed by their Creator" and set forth in the Constitution of
17the United States and the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of
18the State of Illinois; and
19 WHEREAS, Certain counties in Illinois have moved to shield
20their Constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms
21and the economic benefits derived from the sale and operation
22of firearms from overly-burdensome, unreasonable, and unlawful

1government regulation; therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our support
4for these counties and their decision to provide sanctuary for
5their citizens who wish to exercise their fundamental right
6under the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United
7States and the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the State
8of Illinois.
