SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Melba L. Austwick of Carlinville, who
4passed away on August 11, 2018; and
5 WHEREAS, Melba Austwick was born in Carlinville to Lewis
6and Edith (Killam) Brown on November 5, 1926; she graduated
7from Hettick High School and then earned a degree from Browns
8Business College in St. Louis, Missouri; she married K. Lendell
9Austwick in Carlinville on November 14, 1946; and
10 WHEREAS, Melba Austwick was a farm wife and a homemaker;
11she worked in the advertising department for the Democrat
12newspaper in Carlinville; she was also the receptionist for Dr.
13Thomas Huson for many years; later in life, she was employed by
14the Carlinville School District as a librarian assistant at
15West School; and
16 WHEREAS, Melba Austwick was active in her church, Charity
17Baptist Church in Carlinville; she enjoyed crocheting,
18reading, and spending time with her grandchildren; and
19 WHEREAS, Melba Austwick was preceded in death by her
20parents; her husband, K. Lendell; her granddaughter, Christy
21Lynne LeVora; and her brother, Paschal Brown; and

1 WHEREAS, Melba Austwick is survived by her daughters,
2Connie LeVora and Vicki (Nate) Halteman; her granddaughter,
3Jaime (Dave Gaydos) Halteman; her grandsons, J.R. (Andrea
4Hearn) LeVora and Nathan (Bridget Goon) Halteman; her
5great-granddaughters, Kristilyn LeVora and Genevieve Gaydos;
6her great-grandson, Caius LeVora; her sister-in-law, Virginia
7Brown; her brother-in-law, Zane Austwick; and her many nieces
8and nephews; therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Melba L. Austwick and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Melba Austwick as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
