2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Richard Burroughs "Dick" Swick of Coal | ||||||
4 | Valley, who passed away on August 17, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dick Swick was born in Washington, Iowa to Harold | ||||||
6 | and Bashie (Burroughs) Swick on October 10, 1935; he served in | ||||||
7 | the United States Air Force from 1955 until 1958; he married | ||||||
8 | Karen Wickham in Boise, Idaho on December 4, 1958; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Dick Swick was a union steelworker at Alcoa for 35 | ||||||
10 | years and retired in 1998; he later worked at the Two Rivers | ||||||
11 | YMCA in Moline; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dick Swick was a longtime member of the Edgewood | ||||||
13 | Baptist Church; he was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, | ||||||
14 | especially for the Cubs and the Hawkeyes; he never met a | ||||||
15 | stranger, enjoyed helping other people, and loved spending time | ||||||
16 | with his family; and

17 | WHEREAS, Dick Swick was preceded in death by his son, John | ||||||
18 | Swick; his sister, Elaine Hamm; and his brother, Harold Swick, | ||||||
19 | in infancy; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Dick Swick is survived by his wife, Karen, his |

| |||||||
1 | children, Sheila (Joel) Grafton, Wayne (Denise) Swick, and | ||||||
2 | Marci Gordon; his 11 grandchildren; his eight | ||||||
3 | great-grandchildren; and his sister, Joyce (Bill) Anderson; | ||||||

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Richard Burroughs "Dick" Swick and extend our sincere | ||||||
8 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
