2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Robert H. "Bob" Cook of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on August 11, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bob Cook graduated from Rock Island High School in | ||||||
6 | 1953; he served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958 and | ||||||
7 | graduated from Augustana College in 1962; he married Betty Joan | ||||||
8 | Carpenter on September 12, 1965; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Bob Cook was a civilian employee for the U.S. Army | ||||||
10 | for over 30 years, serving as chief of the Abrams Tank Branch | ||||||
11 | of the Material Management Directorate at the Rock Island | ||||||
12 | Arsenal; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Bob Cook was an accomplished musician, playing | ||||||
14 | both cornet and trombone; his lifelong passion was Dixieland | ||||||
15 | Jazz music; he performed in many bands and numerous venues | ||||||
16 | throughout Illinois, starting with the original Rocky High Corn | ||||||
17 | Band in 1952; he enjoyed spending time with his family and | ||||||
18 | friends; and

19 | WHEREAS, Bob Cook was preceded in death by his parents; his | ||||||
20 | stepmother, Celia Thonn Cook; his wife of 35 years, Betty; his | ||||||
21 | stepson, Michael Sweers; and his sister, Janet L. Day; and

1 | WHEREAS, Bob Cook is survived by his daughter, Jane (Chuck) | ||||||
2 | Winston; his stepdaughters, Pamela (Jim) Peckenschneider and | ||||||
3 | Deborah (Don) Hazen; his grandchildren, Michael Hazen, James | ||||||
4 | Hazen, Brett Banfield, Chad Banfield, and Barbara Gregerson; | ||||||
5 | and several great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
8 | Robert H. "Bob" Cook, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
9 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
10 | further

11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to the family of Bob Cook as an expression of our | ||||||
13 | deepest sympathy.
