SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Dale (Judd) Walmsley of Wood River,
4who passed away on July 28, 2018; and
5 WHEREAS, Mary Walmsley was born in Waterloo, New York to
6Clare and Evelyn Judd on December 14, 1942; she graduated from
7high school in 1960; and
8 WHEREAS, Immediately after graduation, Mary Walmsley was
9employed as a secretary at the Seneca Army Depot in Seneca
10Falls, New York; in 1972, she was hired by the Granite City
11School District, where she served as the secretary at the Board
12of Education Office and as the secretary at Lake Elementary
13School; in 1974, she returned to Waterloo, New York with her
14children and worked as the Director of Admission at the
15Waterloo, New York Community Hospital; she married Gilbert
16Walmsley in 1978, and they made their home in Granite City,
17Illinois; she then worked as the personal secretary and
18bookkeeper for Burton Bernard at the Bernard & Davidson Law
19Firm; in 1982, she became the Executive Secretary for the
20Director of the Kettler Center at St. Elizabeth Medical Center,
21where she worked until she and Gib moved to Moline; and
22 WHEREAS, Mary Walmsley was an active member of the Troy

1United Methodist Church and was committed to supporting the
2Harvest Ministry Teams and Global International; she also
3sponsored children through Compassion International and other
4outreach programs; in 2016, she was recognized and honored by
5the Wood River Masonic Lodge 1062 for her work and
6contributions to their meetings and fundraising activities;
7her greatest joy was her family; she enjoyed traveling with Gib
8and their friends and never tired of their rides to Grafton on
9the Great River Road; she enjoyed her monthly luncheons with
10her friends and the gatherings with Gib's classmates; and
11 WHEREAS, Mary Walmsley was preceded in death by her parents
12and her in-laws, Granville and Bonita Walmsley; and
13 WHEREAS, Mary Walmsley is survived by her husband, Gib; her
14children, Daniel (Patricia) Graville and Catherine Graville
15Willis; her stepdaughters, Kit (Martin) Morrissey and Susannah
16(Jason) Massie; her grandchildren, Nathan and Mitchell
17Graville, Leanne (Christian) Willis Roderick; Maggie
18Morrissey, and Matt Morrissey; her brother, Bill (Barb) Judd;
19her sister, Phyllis (Barry) Van Lare; her nephew, Ian Van Lare;
20and her nieces, Sherryl Van Lare and Susan (Curt) Bathras;
21therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
23ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Mary Dale (Judd) Walmsley and extend our sincere condolences to
2her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
3further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Mary Walmsley as an expression of
