| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Dr. Delbert Blair, who passed away at the | ||||||
| 4 | age of 82; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair was born on February 13, 1934 in | ||||||
| 6 | Chicago; his parents were George and Dorothy Blair; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair attended Chicago public | ||||||
| 8 | schools, including Englewood High School, and earned his | ||||||
| 9 | bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Roosevelt | ||||||
| 10 | University; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair began his career as a regional | ||||||
| 12 | salesperson for the Wrigley Gum Company; sensing a different | ||||||
| 13 | life calling for himself, he began attending lectures on | ||||||
| 14 | African history and metaphysics; after a meeting with two men | ||||||
| 15 | while at a conference sponsored by famous astrophysicist Carl | ||||||
| 16 | Sagan, he decided to devote his time to historical and | ||||||
| 17 | metaphysical research and began forming and teaching classes | ||||||
| 18 | throughout Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair lectured throughout the United | ||||||
| 20 | States and the world; he spoke at many conferences, including | ||||||
| 21 | "The Meeting of the Masters" in Atlanta, Georgia, and at | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | numerous universities, including the University of Southern | ||||||
| 2 | California, Penn State University, Michigan State University, | ||||||
| 3 | the University of Illinois, and Tuskegee University, among many | ||||||
| 4 | others; he was the recipient of numerous honorary degrees from | ||||||
| 5 | many of the institutions he visited; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair was a guest speaker on many | ||||||
| 7 | radio shows throughout the nation, speaking on numerous | ||||||
| 8 | scientific topics; he also hosted his own show, "Metaphysics | ||||||
| 9 | Speaks!", where he interviewed many famous subjects, including | ||||||
| 10 | the Minister Louis Farrakhan, Baba Dick Gregory, Maurice White, | ||||||
| 11 | and Oscar Brown, Jr.; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 13 | wife, Marsha Ross Blair; his son, Darnell Blair; and his | ||||||
| 14 | mother; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair is survived by his son, Arvel | ||||||
| 16 | Blair; his daughter-in-law, Gayla Blair; his grandchildren, | ||||||
| 17 | Bronson, Nia, and Aja Blair; his stepdaughter, Angela Harris; | ||||||
| 18 | his grandsons, Marshawn and Markelle Blair; and his ex-wife, | ||||||
| 19 | Annie Blair Johnson; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
| 22 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Dr. Delbert Blair; and | ||||||
