SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ralph Charles Krippner of Moline, who
4passed away on June 24, 2018; and
5 WHEREAS, Ralph Krippner was born in Chicago to Edward and
6Beatrice (Falout) Krippner on December 11, 1939; he married
7Mary Mielke on June 9, 1962 and they settled in Moline in 1977;
8and
9 WHEREAS, Ralph Krippner retired from the Rock Island
10Arsenal as a historian; and
11 WHEREAS, Ralph Krippner was an avid reader and never
12stopped learning; as a lifelong Catholic, he attended daily
13mass and served as a Eucharistic minister, lector, and a server
14at funeral masses; he enjoyed Bible studies and monthly
15meetings with the GK Chesterton Society; he enjoyed walking and
16hiking, and some of his favorite trips included Pennine Way,
17Offa's Dike, and the coast-to-coast trails in England and the
18Camino de Santiago; his local adventures included all walking
19paths in his area, traveling across the U.S. in an RV, and
20daily trips to the YMCA and public library; he was renowned for
21his generous hospitality, especially Sunday brunch, and his pun
22humor; and

1 WHEREAS, Ralph Krippner was preceded in death by his
2brother, George; and
3 WHEREAS, Ralph Krippner is survived by his wife of 56
4years, Mary; his children, Phil (Sue) Krippner, Cari (Cindy)
5Krippner, Kerstin (Paul) Cathcart, Steve (Linda) Krippner, and
6Maggie (Kevin) Schoonmaker; his grandchildren, Breanna,
7Sierra, Katherine, and Charlotte Krippner, Willa Cathcart,
8Lexi (Luke) Shatek, Scott (Mattingly) Schoonmaker, and
9Benjamin, Peter, and Sam Schoonmaker; his great-grandchildren;
10his sister, Vivien (Dr. Edward) Michals; his sister-in-law,
11Sheila Krippner; and his extended family; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Ralph Charles Krippner, and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Ralph Krippner as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
