| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Richard Lee "Dick" Medd of Moline, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on June 15, 2018; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dick Medd served during World War II in the U.S. | ||||||
| 6 | Army Air Corps as a B-29 navigator; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Dick Medd was a successful businessman (Dairy | ||||||
| 8 | Queen, Medd-O-Lane Dairy); he was a pioneer in the Dairy Queen | ||||||
| 9 | franchise, helping to develop, protect, and promote the DQ | ||||||
| 10 | brand nationally; he spread soft serve ice cream and jobs | ||||||
| 11 | across the Midwest and the eastern part of the United States; | ||||||
| 12 | and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dick Medd was musician and 32nd degree Mason; he | ||||||
| 14 | was best at being a husband, dad, and grandpa; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Dick Medd was preceded in death by his parents, | ||||||
| 16 | Cecil and Mildred Medd, and his brothers, William, Ralph, and | ||||||
| 17 | Ronald Medd; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dick Medd is survived by his wife of 73 years, | ||||||
| 19 | Alberta (Bert) Medd; his children, Gary Medd (Jean), James Medd | ||||||
| 20 | (Sandy), Judy Schuler (Jere), and Rich Medd (Stacey); his | ||||||

| 1 | grandchildren, David Medd, Cynthia Sanger, Christy Medd, Kori | ||||||
| 2 | Medd, Grant Kilgard, Wayne Kilgard, Celia Schnupp, Gabriel | ||||||
| 3 | Medd, Kellie Coy, and Jason Schuler; 24 great-grandchildren; | ||||||
| 4 | his brother, Robert (Nancy) Medd; and numerous family members, | ||||||
| 5 | colleagues, and friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 8 | Richard Lee "Dick" Medd, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 9 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
