2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Gerald A. Manint of Bement, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on May 5, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Gerald Manint was born in New Orleans, Louisiana | ||||||
6 | to Albert L. and Norma J. (Dubson) Manint on December 11, 1946; | ||||||
7 | he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from | ||||||
8 | 1966 until 1968; he married Ruth Ann Ross on June 15, 1968; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Gerald Manint was an electrical design engineer; | ||||||
10 | he was also a former first responder for the Bement Fire | ||||||
11 | Department; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Gerald Manint was a member of St. Philomena | ||||||
13 | Catholic Church, the church choir, the Saint Francis of Assisi | ||||||
14 | Knights of Columbus in Monticello-Bement Council 15584, the | ||||||
15 | Bement VFW Post 5192, where he was a past commander, the Albert | ||||||
16 | Parker American Legion Post 620, where he served as chaplain, | ||||||
17 | the Save Our School Foundation, and the Bement Police | ||||||
18 | Auxiliary; he was the co-founder of the Bement Veterans | ||||||
19 | Memorial and the coordinator of the 20th Engineer Brigade | ||||||
20 | Vietnam Veterans Reunion Group; and

21 | WHEREAS, Gerald Manint was preceded in death by his |

2 | WHEREAS, Gerald Manint is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann; | ||||||
3 | his sons, Michael Edward (Heather) Manint, Marc Andrew (April) | ||||||
4 | Manint, and Ryan James (Patricia) Manint; his grandchildren, | ||||||
5 | Mason, Matthew, Madison, David, Zoey, Gabriella, Patrick, and | ||||||
6 | Ian; his brothers, Albert L. (Sarah) Manint Jr., Robert J. | ||||||
7 | (Diana) Manint, and James E. (Cathy) Manint; and his sisters, | ||||||
8 | Joanne S. (Jon) Adams, Linda J. (Don) Brandon, and Joyce M. | ||||||
9 | (Patrick) Quinlan; therefore, be it

10 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
11 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
12 | Gerald A. Manint and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
13 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
14 | further
