SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Loretta Bobrowski-Block, who passed away
4on March 31, 2016; and
5 WHEREAS, Loretta Bobrowski-Block was born in Sand Rock
6(Hurley), Wisconsin on June 3, 1922; and
7 WHEREAS, After graduating high school at age 17, Loretta
8Bobrowski-Block moved in with her sister in Philadelphia,
9Pennsylvania to find work; they then moved to Chicago, where
10she worked as a waitress and did office work; she married Bill
11Bobrowski, a United States Navy sailor with whom she had been
12corresponding during World War II, in 1946; she and her husband
13opened a grocery business; she later married Albert Block; and
14 WHEREAS, Loretta Bobrowski-Block worked as a medical
15transcriptionist at the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes; she
16retired in 1988; and
17 WHEREAS, Loretta Bobrowski-Block enjoyed spending time
18with her immediate family and very dear friend, Mary Pfahl; she
19always enjoyed being hostess; her coffee pot was always ready
20along with lots of cookies; and

1 WHEREAS, Loretta Bobrowski-Block was preceded in death by
2her second husband, Albert; and
3 WHEREAS, Loretta Bobrowski-Block is survived by her
4daughter, Alexis (Gerald) Pedrin; her grandson, David (Holly)
5Pedrin; her son, Bill (Cindy) Bobrowski; her
6step-granddaughter, Stacy (Jeremy) Letkey; her stepson, Albert
7Block; a "special son" Ted (Sherrie Love) Corelewski; and
8several nieces and nephews all across the country; therefore,
9be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Loretta Bobrowski-Block, and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Loretta Bobrowski-Block as an
17expression of our deepest sympathy.
