SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Anthony Vincent Sheehan II, who passed
away on March 4, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan was born to Mark Anthony and Mary
Margaret "Moni" (Roytek) Sheehan on April 27, 1985; he
graduated from Mattoon High School in 2005, the first student
to graduate from there with Down Syndrome; he also graduated
from the Neil Armstrong program at Hawthorne School; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan was employed at CCAR in
Charleston, where he loved the bus ride, the staff, and "his
paperwork"; and
WHEREAS, Camp New Hope in Mattoon was very special to
Anthony Sheehan; he attended the camp's monthly respite
weekends as well as the week-long summer camp for over 25
years; he loved his church family at the Immaculate Conception
Church; he was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and was given
an honorary 4th Degree posthumously; his corner always brought
in the most money each year during the annual KC Tootsie Roll
Drive; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan competed in the Illinois Special

Olympics for 25 years and won numerous medals in bowling,
basketball, bocce, and track and field; he was very patriotic
and proudly sang the National Anthem at many Special Olympic
events, baseball tournaments, retirement parties, and special
events; the National Anthem was a daily ritual in his life; he
was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, the St. Louis Cardinals,
the Chicago Blackhawks, and the St. Louis Blues; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan lived life to the fullest; he was
always happy and never met a stranger that did not like him;
family and friends were very important to him; his faith was
deep and he lived an exemplary life that inspired all that knew
him; he touched so many lives with his enthusiasm for life and
contagious smile; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan is survived by his parents; his
grandmothers; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Anthony Vincent Sheehan II, and extend our sincere condolences
to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

presented to the family of Anthony Sheehan as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
