1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Anthony Vincent Sheehan II, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on March 4, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan was born to Mark Anthony and Mary | ||||||
6 | Margaret "Moni" (Roytek) Sheehan on April 27, 1985; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Mattoon High School in 2005, the first student | ||||||
8 | to graduate from there with Down Syndrome; he also graduated | ||||||
9 | from the Neil Armstrong program at Hawthorne School; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan was employed at CCAR in | ||||||
11 | Charleston, where he loved the bus ride, the staff, and "his | ||||||
12 | paperwork"; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Camp New Hope in Mattoon was very special to | ||||||
14 | Anthony Sheehan; he attended the camp's monthly respite | ||||||
15 | weekends as well as the week-long summer camp for over 25 | ||||||
16 | years; he loved his church family at the Immaculate Conception | ||||||
17 | Church; he was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and was given | ||||||
18 | an honorary 4th Degree posthumously; his corner always brought | ||||||
19 | in the most money each year during the annual KC Tootsie Roll | ||||||
20 | Drive; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan competed in the Illinois Special |

1 | Olympics for 25 years and won numerous medals in bowling, | ||||||
2 | basketball, bocce, and track and field; he was very patriotic | ||||||
3 | and proudly sang the National Anthem at many Special Olympic | ||||||
4 | events, baseball tournaments, retirement parties, and special | ||||||
5 | events; the National Anthem was a daily ritual in his life; he | ||||||
6 | was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, the St. Louis Cardinals, | ||||||
7 | the Chicago Blackhawks, and the St. Louis Blues; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan lived life to the fullest; he was | ||||||
9 | always happy and never met a stranger that did not like him; | ||||||
10 | family and friends were very important to him; his faith was | ||||||
11 | deep and he lived an exemplary life that inspired all that knew | ||||||
12 | him; he touched so many lives with his enthusiasm for life and | ||||||
13 | contagious smile; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Anthony Sheehan is survived by his parents; his | ||||||
15 | grandmothers; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; | ||||||
16 | therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Anthony Vincent Sheehan II, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
20 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
21 | it further
| ||||||
22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

1 | presented to the family of Anthony Sheehan as an expression of | ||||||
2 | our deepest sympathy.
