| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Cheffer of East Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 24, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer was born in Kankakee to Elmer and | ||||||
6 | Lillian (Daugherty) Cheffer on July 30, 1930; he served in the | ||||||
7 | United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953; | ||||||
8 | he graduated from Bradley University; he married Arlene Shaw at | ||||||
9 | Elmwood Methodist Church on June 27, 1953; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer began his career at Alexander Lumber | ||||||
11 | and Joliet Federal Savings and Loan; he then moved to the Quad | ||||||
12 | Cities in 1983; he was President of Rock Island Federal Savings | ||||||
13 | and Loan and later Vice President at Metrobank in East Moline; | ||||||
14 | he was a real estate appraiser early in his banking career and | ||||||
15 | also during his retirement, when he had his own appraisal | ||||||
16 | company; and

17 | WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer served with the Society of Real Estate | ||||||
18 | Appraisers, where he held the designations of SRA and RM within | ||||||
19 | the appraisal community; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer served the City of East Moline as | ||||||
21 | alderman of the Sixth Ward from 2011 until 2018 and on the East |

1 | Moline Planning Commission for 25 years; he was a longtime | ||||||
2 | member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline, where | ||||||
3 | he served on the financial board; he helped at the food pantry, | ||||||
4 | was past president of the Rock Island Rotary, and was a member | ||||||
5 | of the East Moline Rotary; he served the Quad Cities Lions Club | ||||||
6 | and was a Mason; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
8 | and his siblings, John, Mildred, Fred, and Bea; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer is survived by his wife, Arlene; his | ||||||
10 | children, Roger Cheffer, Todd (Beth) Cheffer, and Cynthia | ||||||
11 | Quillin; his grandchildren, Patrick (LeAnn) Quillin, Bobby | ||||||
12 | (Taelor) Cheffer, Joel Cheffer, Keaton Cheffer, and Tori | ||||||
13 | Cheffer; his great-grandchildren, Adeline Cheffer, Charleigh | ||||||
14 | Quillin, and Harper Quillin; and his twin brother, William | ||||||
15 | (Irma) Cheffer; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Robert "Bob" Cheffer and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Bob Cheffer as an expression of our |
