1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Richard S. Anderson; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Richard Anderson was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin | ||||||
5 | to John W. and Gertrude (Hewey) Anderson on June 6, 1925; he | ||||||
6 | attended Galesburg High School; he married Florence Nemec on | ||||||
7 | February 1, 1948; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Richard Anderson joined the U.S. Marines and | ||||||
9 | completed basic training in Southern California, which | ||||||
10 | included long forced marches; he was a corporal scout sniper, | ||||||
11 | with automatic rifleman; he was one of two survivors out of 240 | ||||||
12 | to make it back from the first assault on Betio-Tarawa in the | ||||||
13 | Gilbert Islands; and

14 | WHEREAS, Richard Anderson settled in Chicago and was a | ||||||
15 | master stair builder for Cooper Stair Co.; he installed stairs | ||||||
16 | in some of the state capitals and governor's mansions; he also | ||||||
17 | served on the Prairie Grove Village Board; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Richard Anderson is survived by his wife, | ||||||
19 | Florence, and his niece, Karen Terhune; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
2 | Richard S. Anderson, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
3 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
4 | further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Richard Anderson as an expression of | ||||||
7 | our deepest sympathy.
