SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard S. Anderson; and
4 WHEREAS, Richard Anderson was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
5to John W. and Gertrude (Hewey) Anderson on June 6, 1925; he
6attended Galesburg High School; he married Florence Nemec on
7February 1, 1948; and
8 WHEREAS, Richard Anderson joined the U.S. Marines and
9completed basic training in Southern California, which
10included long forced marches; he was a corporal scout sniper,
11with automatic rifleman; he was one of two survivors out of 240
12to make it back from the first assault on Betio-Tarawa in the
13Gilbert Islands; and
14 WHEREAS, Richard Anderson settled in Chicago and was a
15master stair builder for Cooper Stair Co.; he installed stairs
16in some of the state capitals and governor's mansions; he also
17served on the Prairie Grove Village Board; and
18 WHEREAS, Richard Anderson is survived by his wife,
19Florence, and his niece, Karen Terhune; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2Richard S. Anderson, and extend our sincere condolences to his
3family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
4further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Richard Anderson as an expression of
7our deepest sympathy.
