2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Thelma M. Wians, formerly of Chicago, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 12, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Thelma Wians was born in South Dakota on March 25, | ||||||
6 | 1920 to Herbert and Bertha (nee Gunderson) Swedlund; she | ||||||
7 | married Warren August Wians in Chicago on November 15, 1945; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Thelma Wians and her husband raised their family | ||||||
10 | in Chicago, and, in 2001, they moved to the Sun City Huntley | ||||||
11 | retirement community in Huntley; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Thelma Wians was an avid Scrabble player and was a | ||||||
13 | member of the Sun City Scrabble Club and Trinity Lutheran | ||||||
14 | Church in Huntley; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Thelma Wians was preceded in death by her parents; | ||||||
16 | her husband, Warren; a son, James Warren Wians; 4 brothers; and | ||||||
17 | 3 sisters; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Thelma Wians is survived by her children, Peggy | ||||||
19 | Altmeyer, Pamela Lanteri, David (Demetria) Wians, and Donna | ||||||
20 | (Jeannette Hatcher) Wians; 10 grandchildren; and 7 |

1 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
4 | Thelma M. Wians, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
5 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
6 | further
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the family of Thelma Wians as an expression of our | ||||||
9 | deepest sympathy.
