2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Rosella C. "Rosie" Duffy of Pontiac, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 4, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy was born in Pontiac to Matthew L. and | ||||||
6 | Rebecca E. (Mowry) Nolan on July 28, 1927; she graduated from | ||||||
7 | Pontiac Township High School and the University School of | ||||||
8 | Beauty in Bloomington; she married James Francis Duffy at St. | ||||||
9 | Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac on June 22, 1957; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy was a part-time beautician and worked | ||||||
11 | on the farm her entire life with her husband by her side; she | ||||||
12 | was recognized for her contribution to the Illinois Farm Bureau | ||||||
13 | Ag in the Classroom Fundraiser; she was a member of the | ||||||
14 | Livingston County Farm Bureau, where she served on the board | ||||||
15 | for over 30 years; and

16 | WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic | ||||||
17 | Church in Pontiac, IL, a member of the St. Mary's Women's | ||||||
18 | Guild, and a longtime participant of St. Mary's Catholic Church | ||||||
19 | Perpetual Adoration; she was a member of the American Legion | ||||||
20 | Auxiliary; in 2007, she was honored with the Livingston County | ||||||
21 | Volunteer of the Year Award; and

1 | WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy was preceded in death by her parents; | ||||||
2 | her brothers, Leo, Francis, Mattie, and Jim Nolan; and her | ||||||
3 | sisters, Mary Mies and Margaret Somers; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy is survived by her husband, James; her | ||||||
5 | children, Joseph F. (Janet) and Steven G. (Joan) Duffy; her | ||||||
6 | sister, Rita Nolan Tibbs; and her grandchildren, Jessica (Rob) | ||||||
7 | King, Janelle Duffy, Katherine Duffy, and Kevin Duffy; | ||||||
8 | therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | Rosella C. "Rosie" Duffy, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
12 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
13 | further
