SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rosella C. "Rosie" Duffy of Pontiac, who
4passed away on March 4, 2018; and
5 WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy was born in Pontiac to Matthew L. and
6Rebecca E. (Mowry) Nolan on July 28, 1927; she graduated from
7Pontiac Township High School and the University School of
8Beauty in Bloomington; she married James Francis Duffy at St.
9Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac on June 22, 1957; and
10 WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy was a part-time beautician and worked
11on the farm her entire life with her husband by her side; she
12was recognized for her contribution to the Illinois Farm Bureau
13Ag in the Classroom Fundraiser; she was a member of the
14Livingston County Farm Bureau, where she served on the board
15for over 30 years; and
16 WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
17Church in Pontiac, IL, a member of the St. Mary's Women's
18Guild, and a longtime participant of St. Mary's Catholic Church
19Perpetual Adoration; she was a member of the American Legion
20Auxiliary; in 2007, she was honored with the Livingston County
21Volunteer of the Year Award; and

1 WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy was preceded in death by her parents;
2her brothers, Leo, Francis, Mattie, and Jim Nolan; and her
3sisters, Mary Mies and Margaret Somers; and
4 WHEREAS, Rosie Duffy is survived by her husband, James; her
5children, Joseph F. (Janet) and Steven G. (Joan) Duffy; her
6sister, Rita Nolan Tibbs; and her grandchildren, Jessica (Rob)
7King, Janelle Duffy, Katherine Duffy, and Kevin Duffy;
8therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Rosella C. "Rosie" Duffy, and extend our sincere condolences to
12her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Rosie Duffy as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
