2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Ruben Sandoval of Silvis, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on March 3, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ruben Sandoval was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to | ||||||
6 | Joseph and Carmen (Morales) Sandoval on July 2, 1922; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from United Township High School in 1940; he was a | ||||||
8 | Dispatch Golden Glove Boxing Champion with the Viscioni Tigers | ||||||
9 | Boxing Gym in East Moline in 1941; he enlisted in the United | ||||||
10 | States Coast Guard in 1943; he proudly served as a Gunner's | ||||||
11 | Mate on the USS Gallup (PF-47) and was honorably discharged in | ||||||
12 | 1946; he married Ramona Garcia at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church | ||||||
13 | on October 23, 1948; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Ruben Sandoval retired from IH Harvester as a | ||||||
15 | repairman in 1980; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Ruben Sandoval was a lifetime member of Our Lady | ||||||
17 | of Guadalupe Catholic Church, a past member of Father PRO | ||||||
18 | Society, and a past Commander of VFW Post 8890 in East Moline; | ||||||
19 | he enjoyed cutting grass, carpentry, and working with stained | ||||||
20 | glass; he was proud to have built his own home; and

21 | WHEREAS, Ruben Sandoval was preceded in death by his wife, |

1 | Ramona, and his siblings, William "Willie" Sandoval, Valencia | ||||||
2 | (Raymond) Garcia, and Alphonse Sandoval; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Ruben Sandoval is survived by his son, Mike; his | ||||||
4 | siblings, Rufina Guerrero, Mary (Phillip) Garza, Harry | ||||||
5 | Sandoval, Oscar (Sally) Sandoval, Charles (Ruby) Sandoval, | ||||||
6 | Joseph Jr. (Rita) Sandoval, and Fred (Pauline) Sandoval; his | ||||||
7 | sister-in-law, Emma Sandoval; and his many nieces and nephews; | ||||||
8 | therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | Ruben Sandoval and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
12 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
13 | further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of Ruben Sandoval as an expression of | ||||||
16 | our deepest sympathy.
