SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of David Charles Covey of Huntley, who
passed away on February 18, 2018; and
WHEREAS, David Covey was born in Elgin to Emerson Taft
"Mike" Covey and Salvia (Norlander) Hanson on May 20, 1941; he
graduated from Elgin High School in 1959; he then earned
degrees in education and administration from the University of
Illinois and the University of Wisconsin, Madison; and
WHEREAS, David Covey had a long carer with School District
U-46; he began as a math teacher at Abbott Middle School and
then moved to Tefft Junior High School, where he was an
Assistant Principal; he ended his career as the Principal of
Kimball Middle School; and
WHEREAS, David Covey was a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Elgin, the Retired Teachers Association,
and the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame, where he was a board member
and treasurer; and
WHEREAS, David Covey was preceded in death by his parents
and his wife, Rita (Benson) Covey; and

WHEREAS, David Covey is survived by his daughters,
Christine (Terrence) Binkley and Sara Covey; his grandson,
Mirko Sarovic; and his sisters, Nan Jean (Richard) Bryant and
Judith Fisher; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
David Charles Covey and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of David Covey as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
