SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David Charles Covey of Huntley, who
4passed away on February 18, 2018; and
5 WHEREAS, David Covey was born in Elgin to Emerson Taft
6"Mike" Covey and Salvia (Norlander) Hanson on May 20, 1941; he
7graduated from Elgin High School in 1959; he then earned
8degrees in education and administration from the University of
9Illinois and the University of Wisconsin, Madison; and
10 WHEREAS, David Covey had a long carer with School District
11U-46; he began as a math teacher at Abbott Middle School and
12then moved to Tefft Junior High School, where he was an
13Assistant Principal; he ended his career as the Principal of
14Kimball Middle School; and
15 WHEREAS, David Covey was a member of the First United
16Methodist Church of Elgin, the Retired Teachers Association,
17and the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame, where he was a board member
18and treasurer; and
19 WHEREAS, David Covey was preceded in death by his parents
20and his wife, Rita (Benson) Covey; and

1 WHEREAS, David Covey is survived by his daughters,
2Christine (Terrence) Binkley and Sara Covey; his grandson,
3Mirko Sarovic; and his sisters, Nan Jean (Richard) Bryant and
4Judith Fisher; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7David Charles Covey and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of David Covey as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
