1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of David Charles Covey of Huntley, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 18, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, David Covey was born in Elgin to Emerson Taft | ||||||
6 | "Mike" Covey and Salvia (Norlander) Hanson on May 20, 1941; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Elgin High School in 1959; he then earned | ||||||
8 | degrees in education and administration from the University of | ||||||
9 | Illinois and the University of Wisconsin, Madison; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, David Covey had a long carer with School District | ||||||
11 | U-46; he began as a math teacher at Abbott Middle School and | ||||||
12 | then moved to Tefft Junior High School, where he was an | ||||||
13 | Assistant Principal; he ended his career as the Principal of | ||||||
14 | Kimball Middle School; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, David Covey was a member of the First United | ||||||
16 | Methodist Church of Elgin, the Retired Teachers Association, | ||||||
17 | and the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame, where he was a board member | ||||||
18 | and treasurer; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, David Covey was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
20 | and his wife, Rita (Benson) Covey; and

1 | WHEREAS, David Covey is survived by his daughters, | ||||||
2 | Christine (Terrence) Binkley and Sara Covey; his grandson, | ||||||
3 | Mirko Sarovic; and his sisters, Nan Jean (Richard) Bryant and | ||||||
4 | Judith Fisher; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | David Charles Covey and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of David Covey as an expression of our | ||||||
12 | deepest sympathy.
