SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Joseph C. Pyatt, of Alton, who passed
away on February 24, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Pyatt was born in St. Louis to Earl and
Olivia (Barbara) Pyatt on October 13, 1923; during World War
II, he served as an airplane mechanic in the Pacific Theater
and as a staff sergeant with the United States Marine Corp; he
married Louise Hook on February 7, 1947; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Pyatt worked as a manager for Braun
Automotive, later known as AID Inc., in Alton; he retired from
St. Peters Hardware in Alton at the age of 89; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Pyatt was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church, a fourth degree Knights of Columbus, where he was a
past faithful navigator; he was a part of the group who started
the Saint Vincent DePaul Society at St. Mary's and was an
active member of the East End Improvement Association; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Pyatt was preceded in death by his parents;
his wife, Louise; his son, Greg Pyatt; and his granddaughter,
Melissa Mcelyea; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Pyatt is survived by his daughter, Tina
(Dennis) Murphy; his grandchildren, Bradley (April Burch)
Pyatt, Mindy (Glen) Mcelyea, Megan (Cliff) Judy, and Amanda
Murphy; and his ten great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Joseph C. Pyatt and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Joseph Pyatt as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
