2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of John D. Schillinger of Moline, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on January 22, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Schillinger was born in a farm home in rural | ||||||
6 | Henry County to Ferd and Grace (Kilby) Schillinger on August | ||||||
7 | 10, 1932; he graduated from Orion High School and farmed with | ||||||
8 | his brother, Joe, until he was drafted into the United States | ||||||
9 | Army, where he learned to pilot planes at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; | ||||||
10 | he married Judy McLean in 1959; later, he married Thelma | ||||||
11 | Millsap on August 8, 1976; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, John Schillinger owned and operated a portable | ||||||
13 | ready mix business; he later purchased a feed and fertilizer | ||||||
14 | business in Viola, which he eventually sold to purchase Viola | ||||||
15 | Materials; he was an independent concrete man and later worked | ||||||
16 | for cement contractors in the Chicago area, which allowed him | ||||||
17 | to travel to Florida to build ocean barriers in the Keys; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, John Schillinger enjoyed fishing and piloting his | ||||||
19 | Cessna air craft; he also enjoyed fly fishing; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, John Schillinger was preceded in death by his | ||||||
21 | parents, Ferd and Grace; his first wife, Thelma, and his second |

1 | wife, Judy; and his brother, Joe Schillinger; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, John Schillinger is survived by his sons, Randy | ||||||
3 | (Vicki), Mark D., Shawn (Melissa), and Shane (Jenny) | ||||||
4 | Schillinger; his daughter, Renae (Dan Ziegler) Schillinger; | ||||||
5 | nine grandchildren; his brother, Richard (Diane) Schillinger; | ||||||
6 | his sisters, Carol (Bob) Reese, Sharon (Lawrence) Pirkl, and | ||||||
7 | Sunny (Jim) Moorhusen; and his sister-in-law, Margo | ||||||
8 | Schillinger; therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | John D. Schillinger, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
12 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
13 | further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of John Schillinger as an expression of | ||||||
16 | our deepest sympathy.
