2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Stanley C. "Stan" Sampson of Mount | ||||||
4 | Prospect, who passed away on January 18, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Stan Sampson was born in Chicago to Carl and Anna | ||||||
6 | (Anderson) Sampson October 19, 1924; he graduated from Lane | ||||||
7 | Technical High School and joined the United States Army in | ||||||
8 | March of 1943, where he was a general mechanic stationed in the | ||||||
9 | Philippines; he was discharged in 1946; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Stan Sampson started his career at | ||||||
11 | Schindler-Haughton Elevators; he worked his way up to district | ||||||
12 | construction manager and retired in 1990 after 45 years in the | ||||||
13 | elevator business; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Stan Sampson was affectionately known as "Swede"; | ||||||
15 | he grew up just blocks from Wrigley field, and as a young boy, | ||||||
16 | collected trash in the stands after games for a ticket to an | ||||||
17 | upcoming game; this was the start of his love for the Cubs and | ||||||
18 | he was ecstatic when they won the World Series in 2016; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Stan Sampson was always ready to lend a hand to | ||||||
20 | friends, family, and strangers; he especially loved doing | ||||||
21 | handyman chores around the house and could often be found |

1 | tinkering in his garage; neighbors would find him out in the | ||||||
2 | garage sitting in a lawn chair watching the neighborhood; he | ||||||
3 | loved spending quality time with his family; he was a member of | ||||||
4 | the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local No. 2 | ||||||
5 | and American Legion Morton Grove Post 134; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Stan Sampson was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
7 | his wife, Madeline Kilfoy; and his sisters, Alice, Margaret, | ||||||
8 | Betty, and Ethel; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Stan Sampson is survived by his daughter, Linda | ||||||
10 | (Rodger) Allhands; his granddaughter, Jessica Allhands; and | ||||||
11 | his sister-in-law, Mary "Katie" Kilfoy; therefore, be it
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
14 | Stanley C. "Stan" Sampson, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
15 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
16 | it further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to the family of Stan Sampson as an expression of our | ||||||
19 | deepest sympathy.
