2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of James "Jim" R. Rice of Andalusia, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on November 20, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jim Rice was born to William and Juanita (Henson) | ||||||
6 | Rice in Elderd on May 8, 1940; he served in the U. S. Army from | ||||||
7 | 1962 to 1965; he married Sharon Laing at Red Oak Presbyterian | ||||||
8 | Church in Tipton, Iowa on May 21, 1966; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Jim Rice worked in various capacities for John | ||||||
10 | Deere over 35 years, including landscaping and production at | ||||||
11 | Harvester Works; he was also a talented handyman and a trained | ||||||
12 | locksmith; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Jim Rice truly enjoyed working outside, tinkering | ||||||
14 | with things, golfing, and fishing, as well as his bowling | ||||||
15 | league; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Jim Rice was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church | ||||||
17 | in Rock Island for over 50 years; he was very active in his | ||||||
18 | church, serving as a deacon, an Awana leader, and a trustee | ||||||
19 | over the years; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Jim Rice was preceded in death by his parents and |

| |||||||
1 | his sisters, Peggy Heedley and Linda Birdsong; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Jim Rice is survived by his wife; his daughters, | ||||||
3 | Karyn (Mike) Fulton and Teresa (Scott) White; his | ||||||
4 | grandchildren, Kyle White and Kyra White; and his brother, Ken | ||||||
5 | Rice; therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
8 | James "Jim" R. Rice and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
9 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||
