SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jimmie "Jim" Otto Speckman of Port
4Byron, who passed away on November 22, 2022; and
5 WHEREAS, Jim Speckman was born to Harry and Gertrude
6(Pulver) Speckman in Moline on April 18, 1934; he graduated
7from Port Byron High School in 1952; after high school, he
8served in the U. S. Army; he married Joan E. Lewis at St.
9John's Church in Rapids City on July 9, 1955; and
10 WHEREAS, Jim Speckman worked at John Deere Harvester in
11the Experimental Department; and
12 WHEREAS, Jim Speckman was a longtime member of St. John's
13Catholic Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister of
14Holy Communion and an usher; he was also a member of the
15Knights of Columbus and regularly volunteered his time and
16talent to help others; and
17 WHEREAS, Jim Speckman enjoyed woodworking and spending
18time with his family; he had a very gentle and kind soul; and
19 WHEREAS, Jim Speckman was preceded in death by his
20parents; his brother and his brother's wife, H. Keith and

1Virginia Speckman; his grandson in infancy, Adam; and his
2niece, Karen Dippel; and
3 WHEREAS, Jim Speckman is survived by his wife, Joan
4Speckman, his son, Marcus Speckman; his daughter, Margie
5Speckman; his grandson, Drew Speckman; and his niece, Bonnie
6Habis; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James "Jim" Otto Speckman and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Jim Speckman as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
