2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Carl L. Puckett of Assumption, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on January 13, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Carl Puckett was born in Pana to Ralph F. and | ||||||
6 | Blanche E. (Gildersleeve) Puckett on November 9, 1940; he | ||||||
7 | proudly served in the United States Army from 1960 until 1962; | ||||||
8 | he married Carolyn J. Bantner in Assumption on August 23, 1963; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Carl Puckett worked for the Norfolk and Southern | ||||||
11 | Railroad and retired in 1993; he also owned Puckett's Plumbing | ||||||
12 | for over 20 years; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Carl Puckett was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; | ||||||
14 | he also enjoyed following the Central A&M Raiders, the St. | ||||||
15 | Teresa Bulldogs, and the Rochester Rockets; he enjoyed spending | ||||||
16 | his free time shooting trap and watching westerns; he rarely | ||||||
17 | missed a morning of coffee at the "Liars Table;" he was | ||||||
18 | passionate about his country and his town and served on the | ||||||
19 | Assumption City Council for eight years; and

20 | WHEREAS, Carl Puckett was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
21 | Carolyn; his parents; his sisters, Dorothy LeDuc, Barbara Webb, |

1 | and Helen Eddy; his brothers, Ronald Puckett, and Charles Ray | ||||||
2 | Puckett (in infancy); his granddaughter, Casey Williams; and | ||||||
3 | his great-grandson, Gus Hiler; and

4 | WHEREAS, Carl Puckett is survived by his children, Cheryl | ||||||
5 | (Eric) Swigert, Chelli (Jim) Branyan, John Puckett, and Cara | ||||||
6 | (Kevin) Reiser; his grandchildren, Courtney (Brian) Hiler, | ||||||
7 | Chelbi (Sheldon) Williams-Alt, Blair (Wesley) Chapple, Bailey | ||||||
8 | (Justin) Haynes, Bradi Branyan (Dustin Cornwell), Beau | ||||||
9 | Branyan, Kolton Reiser, Carli Reiser, and Keith Swigert; his | ||||||
10 | great-grandchildren, Cale Chapple, George Hiler, Charlee | ||||||
11 | Chapple, Carsen Chapple, and Holden and Hazel Haynes; his | ||||||
12 | brothers, Paul Puckett and Kenny (Jeanne) Puckett; and his | ||||||
13 | sister, Betty Temmen; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Carl L. Puckett and extend our condolences to his family, | ||||||
17 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Carl Puckett as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy.
