SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William Lawrence "Larry" Day of
4Meadowbrook, who passed away on December 25, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Larry Day was born in Brawley, California to
6Wannie (Bell) Day and Judge John W. Day on November 12, 1947;
7he graduated from Roxana High School and earned a Bachelor of
8Science degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville;
9he married Marcy Farmer at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in
10Bethalto on August 26, 2000; and
11 WHEREAS, Larry Day served three tours of duty in Vietnam,
12which included rescue missions as a Blackhawk helicopter door
13gunner, three years as an instructor at "Jungle Survival
14School" in Panama, and as a drill instructor at Fort Polk,
15Louisiana, and Fort Riley, Kansas; and
16 WHEREAS, Larry Day worked at the Olin Corporation for over
1720 years, both before and after his military service; and
18 WHEREAS, Larry Day received his 3rd Degree Black Belt in
19karate, tae kwon do, and jiu-jitsu; he also received his 4th
20Degree in the Knights of Columbus and was a ranking member of
21the Masons; he served 12 years as Chairman of the Bethalto

1Board; and
2 WHEREAS, Larry Day was an avid marksman and hunter; he
3enjoyed working with veteran support groups, woodworking,
4using the ham radio, reading books, and spending time with
5others; and
6 WHEREAS, Larry Day was preceded in death by his father; and
7his sisters, Patricia (Day) Leady and Linda Jane Day; and
8 WHEREAS, Larry Day is survived by his mother; his wife,
9Marcy; his daughter, Laura Robbins; his sons, John L. (Justina)
10Day, Michael J. (Jennifer) Day, and Joseph Day; his four
11grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; his brothers, Fr.
12John Patrick Day CP and James (Sally) Day; his sister, Linda
13Barrett; and his other relatives, especially Mike Leady and Joe
14Minor; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17William Lawrence "Larry" Day and extend our sincere condolences
18to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
19it further
20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Larry Day as an expression of our
