SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of William Lawrence "Larry" Day of
Meadowbrook, who passed away on December 25, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Larry Day was born in Brawley, California to
Wannie (Bell) Day and Judge John W. Day on November 12, 1947;
he graduated from Roxana High School and earned a Bachelor of
Science degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville;
he married Marcy Farmer at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in
Bethalto on August 26, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Larry Day served three tours of duty in Vietnam,
which included rescue missions as a Blackhawk helicopter door
gunner, three years as an instructor at "Jungle Survival
School" in Panama, and as a drill instructor at Fort Polk,
Louisiana, and Fort Riley, Kansas; and
WHEREAS, Larry Day worked at the Olin Corporation for over
20 years, both before and after his military service; and
WHEREAS, Larry Day received his 3rd Degree Black Belt in
karate, tae kwon do, and jiu-jitsu; he also received his 4th
Degree in the Knights of Columbus and was a ranking member of
the Masons; he served 12 years as Chairman of the Bethalto

Board; and
WHEREAS, Larry Day was an avid marksman and hunter; he
enjoyed working with veteran support groups, woodworking,
using the ham radio, reading books, and spending time with
others; and
WHEREAS, Larry Day was preceded in death by his father; and
his sisters, Patricia (Day) Leady and Linda Jane Day; and
WHEREAS, Larry Day is survived by his mother; his wife,
Marcy; his daughter, Laura Robbins; his sons, John L. (Justina)
Day, Michael J. (Jennifer) Day, and Joseph Day; his four
grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; his brothers, Fr.
John Patrick Day CP and James (Sally) Day; his sister, Linda
Barrett; and his other relatives, especially Mike Leady and Joe
Minor; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
William Lawrence "Larry" Day and extend our sincere condolences
to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Larry Day as an expression of our
