SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James A. "Jim" Rodell of Rock Island,
4who passed away on October 20, 2022; and
5 WHEREAS, Jim Rodell was born to Clifford and Verne
6(Lindahl) Rodell in Moline on December 18, 1940; he served in
7the U.S. Army; he married Joanne Downey in Moline in June 1962;
8he married Virginia Anson in Rock Island on September 5, 1992;
9and
10 WHEREAS, Jim Rodell served as a police officer in Moline;
11he later retired from Roadway Express in 2002; he worked
12part-time as a bus driver at Friendship Manor in Rock Island;
13and
14 WHEREAS, Jim Rodell was presented the Two and a Half
15Million Miles Safe Driver Award from Roadway Express; and
16 WHEREAS, Jim Rodell's interests included NASCAR, his
17trucks, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles; he enjoyed going on
18rides with his wife and vacationing with his girls; and
19 WHEREAS, Jim Rodell was affectionately known as the mayor
20of 30th Street; and

1 WHEREAS, Jim Rodell was preceded in death by his first
2wife, Joanne Downey, and his three siblings; and
3 WHEREAS, Jim Rodell is survived by his wife, Virginia; his
4daughters, Dori (Jose) Correa, Diane (Troy) Winthurst, and
5Denise (Jim Jr.) Hantz; his grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer,
6Jenna, Brandon, and Adison; his great-grandchildren, Isabella,
7Holden, Addison, Brooklyn, and Everly; his niece, Michelle
8Panno Johnson; his nephew, Tony (Yvonne) Panno; and his
9beloved dogs, Gretchen and Abby; therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12James A. "Jim" Rodell and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Jim Rodell as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
