| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Martin "Marty" Gray of Milan, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on October 13, 2024; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Marty Gray, the son of Henry "Hank" and Elois | ||||||
| 6 | "Lois" Cleveland Gray, was born in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts | ||||||
| 7 | on February 4, 1959; he graduated from Aledo High School; he | ||||||
| 8 | married Lisa Widdop at Beulah Church on September 8, 1979; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Marty Gray was the owner of Gray Machine and | ||||||
| 10 | Welding in Rock Island; he also served on the Reynolds Fire | ||||||
| 11 | Department for 33 years, where he held the position of fire | ||||||
| 12 | chief for the last 10 years; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Marty Gray served as an elder at Hamlet Church | ||||||
| 14 | and as a volunteer and president with the Rockridge Boosters | ||||||
| 15 | Club; he also coached youth baseball and basketball for | ||||||
| 16 | several years; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Marty Gray loved hunting, fishing, and spending | ||||||
| 18 | time with his family, especially his grandsons; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Marty Gray was preceded in death by his mother | ||||||
| 20 | and his father-in-law, James Widdop; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Marty Gray is survived by his wife; his father; | ||||||
| 2 | his children, Jeremy (Jackie Norman) Gray and Krista (Billy) | ||||||
| 3 | Mohl; six grandchildren; his sister, Patti (Bob) Long; his | ||||||
| 4 | mother-in-law, Linda Widdop; his adopted uncle and aunt, Ron | ||||||
| 5 | and Jean Brown; his adopted brother, Brian Brown; and his | ||||||
| 6 | childhood friend, Doug McCleary; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 9 | Martin "Marty" Gray and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
