SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Martin "Marty" Gray of Milan, who
passed away on October 13, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Marty Gray, the son of Henry "Hank" and Elois
"Lois" Cleveland Gray, was born in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts
on February 4, 1959; he graduated from Aledo High School; he
married Lisa Widdop at Beulah Church on September 8, 1979; and
WHEREAS, Marty Gray was the owner of Gray Machine and
Welding in Rock Island; he also served on the Reynolds Fire
Department for 33 years, where he held the position of fire
chief for the last 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Marty Gray served as an elder at Hamlet Church
and as a volunteer and president with the Rockridge Boosters
Club; he also coached youth baseball and basketball for
several years; and
WHEREAS, Marty Gray loved hunting, fishing, and spending
time with his family, especially his grandsons; and
WHEREAS, Marty Gray was preceded in death by his mother
and his father-in-law, James Widdop; and

WHEREAS, Marty Gray is survived by his wife; his father;
his children, Jeremy (Jackie Norman) Gray and Krista (Billy)
Mohl; six grandchildren; his sister, Patti (Bob) Long; his
mother-in-law, Linda Widdop; his adopted uncle and aunt, Ron
and Jean Brown; his adopted brother, Brian Brown; and his
childhood friend, Doug McCleary; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Martin "Marty" Gray and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
