2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Donald J. "Don" Carter of Oak Park, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 18, 2019 at the age of 92; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Don Carter was born in Chicago to James and Monica | ||||||
6 | Carter on October 30, 1926; he served in the U.S. Army Air | ||||||
7 | Corps during World War II; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Don Carter worked for Brigance Chevrolet in Oak | ||||||
9 | Park for over 20 years; he also worked for Sun Electric, now | ||||||
10 | Snap-On Incorporated, until his retirement in 1992; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Don Carter passionately volunteered at Hines VA | ||||||
12 | Hospital, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and Morton East High | ||||||
13 | School in Cicero, where he used his automotive skills to help | ||||||
14 | students; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Don Carter will be fondly remembered for his Model | ||||||
16 | 'T' and his involvement in the Midwest Model 'T' Club and the | ||||||
17 | Salt Creek Model 'A' Club; he enjoyed camping with his wife, | ||||||
18 | and they were members of the Spinning Wheels and Over the Hill | ||||||
19 | camping clubs; and

20 | WHEREAS, Don Carter was preceded in death by his parents |

1 | and his brother, James Carter; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Don Carter is survived by his wife, Carol Carter; | ||||||
3 | his children, Brent, Donald Jr. (the late Laura), Elaine (the | ||||||
4 | late Michael Haughan), and Steven (Laura) Carter; his 11 | ||||||
5 | grandchildren; his 15 great-grandchildren; and his four | ||||||
6 | great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | Donald J. "Don" Carter and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
10 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
11 | further
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to the family of Don Carter as an expression of our | ||||||
14 | deepest sympathy.
