SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Vaughn Chester Wilhite, who passed away
4on November 8, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Vaughn Wilhite was born in Lancaster, Kentucky to
6Chester Ray and Donna Doram Wilhite on August 26, 1959; his
7education began in Inkster, Michigan at Peterson-Warren
8Academy, where he was active in both school and church,
9including serving in Sabbath school, Pathfinders, and other
10church youth groups; he was an athlete who played basketball,
11football, and golf; he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
12from Andrews University; and
13 WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Vaughn Wilhite
14joined the Armed Forces; he was honorably discharged from the
15United States Air Force as a Captain and from the United States
16Army as a Major; he received many medals and awards while
17serving on active duty as a Mental Health Nurse Specialist,
18including the Air Force Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf
19Cluster, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Air Force
20Training Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, and the
21Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; while serving in the United
22States Army, he received the Army Commendation medal, the Army
23Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the

1Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; he was also awarded the
2Community Award for saving someone's life while off duty; and
3 WHEREAS, Vaughn Wilhite was preceded in death by his
4father; and
5 WHEREAS, Vaughn Wilhite is survived by his mother; his
6wife, Paris; his daughters, Ashley Wilhite, India Wilhite, and
7Alannah Wilhite; his son, Ezra Brown; his stepchildren, Sir
8Joseph Tucker (Erica), Valencia Tucker, and Victoria Smith
9(Reggie); his grandchildren, Olivia, Faith, and Reggie; his
10brother, Colonel Dwayne White Sr. (Diana); his sisters, Leslie
11Hightower, and Freda Thurman (Joseph); his many nieces,
12nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews; and his many
13other family members and friends; therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that that we mourn the
16passing of Vaughn Chester Wilhite and extend our sincere
17condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18him; and be it further
19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Vaughn Wilhite as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
