| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Vaughn Chester Wilhite, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on November 8, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Vaughn Wilhite was born in Lancaster, Kentucky to | ||||||
6 | Chester Ray and Donna Doram Wilhite on August 26, 1959; his | ||||||
7 | education began in Inkster, Michigan at Peterson-Warren | ||||||
8 | Academy, where he was active in both school and church, | ||||||
9 | including serving in Sabbath school, Pathfinders, and other | ||||||
10 | church youth groups; he was an athlete who played basketball, | ||||||
11 | football, and golf; he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing | ||||||
12 | from Andrews University; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Vaughn Wilhite | ||||||
14 | joined the Armed Forces; he was honorably discharged from the | ||||||
15 | United States Air Force as a Captain and from the United States | ||||||
16 | Army as a Major; he received many medals and awards while | ||||||
17 | serving on active duty as a Mental Health Nurse Specialist, | ||||||
18 | including the Air Force Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf | ||||||
19 | Cluster, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Air Force | ||||||
20 | Training Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, and the | ||||||
21 | Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; while serving in the United | ||||||
22 | States Army, he received the Army Commendation medal, the Army | ||||||
23 | Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the |

1 | Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; he was also awarded the | ||||||
2 | Community Award for saving someone's life while off duty; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Vaughn Wilhite was preceded in death by his | ||||||
4 | father; and

5 | WHEREAS, Vaughn Wilhite is survived by his mother; his | ||||||
6 | wife, Paris; his daughters, Ashley Wilhite, India Wilhite, and | ||||||
7 | Alannah Wilhite; his son, Ezra Brown; his stepchildren, Sir | ||||||
8 | Joseph Tucker (Erica), Valencia Tucker, and Victoria Smith | ||||||
9 | (Reggie); his grandchildren, Olivia, Faith, and Reggie; his | ||||||
10 | brother, Colonel Dwayne White Sr. (Diana); his sisters, Leslie | ||||||
11 | Hightower, and Freda Thurman (Joseph); his many nieces, | ||||||
12 | nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews; and his many | ||||||
13 | other family members and friends; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that that we mourn the | ||||||
16 | passing of Vaughn Chester Wilhite and extend our sincere | ||||||
17 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
18 | him; and be it further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Vaughn Wilhite as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our deepest sympathy.
