| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Phyllis June Spurney of Sawyerville, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on March 15, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney was born in Sawyerville to James | ||||||
| 6 | D. Taylor and Alice (Douglass) Taylor on June 30, 1930; she | ||||||
| 7 | married Joseph Spurney Jr., and he preceded her in death on | ||||||
| 8 | April 1, 1996; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney was the manager of the Illinois | ||||||
| 10 | Secretary of State Driver Service Facility in Carlinville; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney previously served as the mayor of | ||||||
| 12 | Sawyerville for 40 years; she was the former chairwoman of the | ||||||
| 13 | Macoupin County Democratic Party; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney was a member of the VFW Ladies | ||||||
| 15 | Auxiliary of Mt. Olive and the United Methodist Church of | ||||||
| 16 | Benld; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 18 | parents; her spouse; her sons, David Spurney and Daryl Spurney; | ||||||
| 19 | and her sister, Ava Bray; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney is survived by her grandson, David | ||||||
| 2 | J. (Tami Straub, companion) Spurney; her niece, Phyllis Lynn | ||||||
| 3 | (Bray) Fraelle; and her nephew, Jim Bray; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 6 | Phyllis June Spurney and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
