SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Louis J. "Louie" Giordano, formerly of
Springfield, who passed away on May 3, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Louie Giordano was born in Springfield to Carl and
Louise (Gentile) Giordano on December 22, 1946; he graduated
from Griffin High School and received his bachelor's degree
from Illinois College and his master's degree in political
studies from the University of Illinois at Springfield; and
WHEREAS, Louie Giordano was active in local and state
government for much of his life; he founded Giordano Consulting
Services, which became a successful government relations firm
that provided legislative services to several statewide trade
associations in Illinois; he also co-founded the Systems
Evaluation and Analysis Group, which teamed with notable
companies, including IBM, Novell, and others, to introduce
computer networking systems to several state agencies and
private businesses; his company maintained offices in
Springfield, Schaumburg, and Phoenix, Arizona; and
WHEREAS, Louie Giordano served in Governor James
Thompson's Cabinet for five years as director of the Department
of Personnel and as the first director of the Department of

Central Management Services; preceding his cabinet positions,
he was responsible for the re-design of the social services
delivery system in the Department of Children and Family
Services and was the chief administrative officer for the
Department of Public Aid, where in addition to his
administrative role, he designed and managed the
implementation of the first and most innovative photo I.D.
system in the nation; he also served as executive director of
the Illinois Republican Party for two years; and
WHEREAS, Louie Giordano taught Public Administration and
Political Science at Loyola University of Chicago and the
College of DuPage; and
WHEREAS, Louie Giordano enjoyed playing golf and
basketball, attending sporting events, and traveling; his
favorite travel destination was Italy; his love of golf led him
to design a unique putter and market it under the Sweetroll
trade name; he also received several U.S. patents for golf club
designs; he coached and mentored young golfers on the
Springfield College of Illinois golf team; and
WHEREAS, Louie Giordano was a member of the Illini Country
Club, the Panther Creek Country Club, the University Club of
Chicago, and the Anthem Country Club; and

WHEREAS, Louie Giordano was preceded in death by his
parents and his sister, Clara-Marie Krumwiede; and
WHEREAS, Louie Giordano is survived by his wife, Aimee; his
sons, John (Christina) and Mark; his daughter, Tamara Root; his
brothers, Carl (Martha) and Patrick (Anita); his sisters, Paula
(Keith) Moore and Nancy (Thomas) Curry; four grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Louis J. "Louie" Giordano and extend our sincere condolences to
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Louie Giordano as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
