2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jimmie Walfrid "Gus" Gustafson of Coal | ||||||
4 | Valley, who passed away on November 1, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jimmie Gustafson was born in Osco to Erick Walfrid | ||||||
6 | and Esther Catherine Vigor Gustafson on October 10, 1935; he | ||||||
7 | married Joan Bernice Painter in Geneseo on October 22, 1960; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Jimmie Gustafson was proud to have served as a | ||||||
10 | radar operator and paratrooper in the United States Army during | ||||||
11 | the Korean War; he worked for Montgomery Elevator Company for | ||||||
12 | over 29 years and retired as lead wireman; after his | ||||||
13 | retirement, he built and sold homes for Advance Homes, co-owned | ||||||
14 | G&L Auto Care, and owned Gather Inn and Miss Moo's Video and | ||||||
15 | Tanning; and

16 | WHEREAS, Jimmie Gustafson was a member of the First | ||||||
17 | Presbyterian Church and Kone Retirees; he was an avid golfer | ||||||
18 | and semi-professional bowler; he loved people and never met a | ||||||
19 | stranger; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Jimmie Gustafson was preceded in death by his | ||||||
21 | parents; and his brother, Alan Gustafson; and

1 | WHEREAS, Jimmie Gustafson is survived by his wife of 57 | ||||||
2 | years, Joan; his children and their spouses, Glenn and Dana | ||||||
3 | Gustafson, Monica and Steve Metscaviz, and Lisa and Michael | ||||||
4 | O'Neil; his grandchildren, Jesse and Sarah Gustafson, Molly and | ||||||
5 | Matthew Metscaviz, and Joshua O'Neil; and his two | ||||||
6 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | Jimmie Walfrid "Gus" Gustafson and extend our sincere | ||||||
10 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
11 | him; and be it further

12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
