SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Henrietta Pigg of Lake Forest, who passed
4away on September 25, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Henrietta Pigg was born in Butler, Pennsylvania to
6Oliver Herman LaBernz and Sarah Agnes Logan on April 28, 1927;
7she graduated from Butler High School in 1944; during high
8school, her talents as a pianist were recognized, and she was
9selected to participate in a program sponsored by the Hammond
10Organ Company; following high school, she attended Westminster
11College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and then enrolled in
12nursing school at Allegheny General Hospital; she graduated
13with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1949; she married Edgar
14Woolard Pigg Sr. in October of 1952; and
15 WHEREAS, Henrietta Pigg began her nursing career in the
16Emergency Room at Allegheny General Hospital; she also worked
17as an Assistant Nursing Arts Instructor; after suspending her
18nursing career to focus on raising her children, she joined
19Westmoreland Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she worked until
20her retirement in 1999; and
21 WHEREAS, Henrietta Pigg was active in her church, Grace
22United Methodist Church, and was a member of the United

1Methodist Women Circle and The Questers; her talents for
2accompanying the choir and other musicians led to her
3appointment as church organist, where she served nearly every
4Sunday for over 40 years; she loved playing the organ and piano
5for the choir, and she tirelessly promoted the music ministry
6at Grace; she also played for the vesper services for residents
7at Westmoreland and Lake Forest Place; and
8 WHEREAS, Henrietta Pigg volunteered for the Lake Bluff
9Garden Club; she was a Paul Harris Fellow and remained active
10in Rotary International until her death; she always had a sense
11of humor about her name and was an avid collector of anything
12porcine; and
13 WHEREAS, Henrietta Pigg was preceded in death by her
14husband, Edgar Pigg Sr.; and her sister, Katherine LaBernz
15Wightman; and
16 WHEREAS, Henrietta Pigg is survived by her children,
17Katherine Pigg (Fred III) Boebel, Edgar Woolard (Barbara)
18Hammond, and David Oliver (Marguerite Welter) Pigg; her
19grandchildren, Fred IV and Katherine Grace Boebel, Carolyn and
20Robert Hammond, and David Jr. and Emma Pigg; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Henrietta Pigg and extend our sincere condolences to her
2family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
3further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Henrietta Pigg as an expression of
