SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of United States Army Private First Class
4Andrew N. Meari of Plainfield, who was killed in action on
5November 1, 2010, in Kandahar, Afghanistan; and
6 WHEREAS, Andrew Meari was born on September 14, 1989 in
7Chicago; he was the son of Denise Meehan and Mahmoud Meari; and
8 WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari attended Drauden Point Middle
9School and Plainfield South High School; he subsequently
10graduated early from Port Washington High School in Wisconsin;
11and
12 WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari joined the U.S. Army in October
13of 2008; he served with Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd
14Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne
15Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and
16 WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari was awarded the National Defense
17Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War
18on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the
19Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Combat Infantry Badge in
20recognition of his service; and

1 WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari is survived by his mother, Denise
2(Gerald) Meehan; his father, Mahmoud (Aisha) Meari; his
3brothers, Ethan and Andrew; his sister, Jenna; his grandmother,
4Vivienne Williams; his uncle, Todd (Stacie) Williams; and his
5many cousins and friends; and
6 WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari will be remembered by all who
7knew and loved him as an outgoing, intelligent, and passionate
8young man, whose dedication to his country and his family was
9unmatched; therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of United States Army
13Private First Class Andrew N. Meari; and be it further
14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of PFC Andrew Meari as a symbol of our
16sympathy.
