| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Barbara
McLachlan of Oak Park, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on May 6, 2017, at the age of 81; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was born on October 24, 1935 and | ||||||
6 | raised in the City of Chicago; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan graduated from Alverno College | ||||||
8 | in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a
degree in education; she was a | ||||||
9 | grade school teacher for many years before starting a career as | ||||||
10 | a
paralegal in the 1980s, but later returned to teaching before | ||||||
11 | her retirement; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan served as past co-president and | ||||||
13 | board member of the League of
Women Voters of Oak Park; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was a voracious reader and was a | ||||||
15 | member of several book
clubs and discussion groups; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was an avid bridge player and | ||||||
17 | participated in a number of groups
throughout Oak Park over the | ||||||
18 | past 40 years; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was known by family and friends |

1 | to inspire others with her
kindness, intellect, vibrant spirit, | ||||||
2 | determination, and sense of humor; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was the much-loved wife of the | ||||||
4 | late Duane McLachlan, and the
cherished mother of daughter | ||||||
5 | Maureen McLachlan, with whom she enjoyed a special and
enduring | ||||||
6 | relationship; therefore, be it
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | Barbara McLachlan, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
11 | further
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to the family of Barbara
McLachlan as an expression | ||||||
14 | of our deepest sympathy.
