1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of David S. "Dave" Joseph of East Peoria, |
4 | | who passed away on April 23, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dave Joseph was born to Mike and Betty (Tamer) |
6 | | Joseph on June 21, 1943; he was raised on the south side of |
7 | | Peoria, where he worked in his parents' small grocery store; |
8 | | he attended the Spalding Institute in Peoria; he graduated |
9 | | from Bradley University in Peoria, where he was member of |
10 | | Theta Xi Fraternity and formed many lifetime friendships; he |
11 | | married Sharyn L. Allen in Chicago on August 25, 1968; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Dave Joseph pursued a career in real estate; he |
13 | | first worked for a leading Chicago commercial real estate |
14 | | firm, Baird and Warner; his career eventually brought him back |
15 | | to Peoria, where he worked for Commercial National Realty |
16 | | before starting his own firm, David Joseph Realtors |
17 | | Developers; his company evolved over the years, eventually |
18 | | becoming what is known today as The D. Joseph Companies, which |
19 | | has developed or currently owns numerous shopping centers, |
20 | | office complexes, medical facilities, and restaurants |
21 | | throughout Central Illinois and the United States; he was a |
22 | | developer who was ahead of his time and contributed much to the |
23 | | growth of Peoria; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Dave Joseph was deeply committed to his faith; he |
2 | | was a founding and faithful member of St. Sharbel Catholic |
3 | | Maronite Church in Peoria; he was granted the Pontifical Honor |
4 | | of Knight St. Gregory the Great by His Holiness Pope John Paul |
5 | | II on April 23, 1994, recognizing his kindness, his generosity |
6 | | to his church, and his caring for his community and fellow man; |
7 | | and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Dave Joseph lived a quiet life of dedication and |
9 | | unconditional love for his family; his life was filled with |
10 | | love, success, and many good deeds; he will be remembered for |
11 | | being a good man; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Dave Joseph was preceded in death by his parents |
13 | | and his brother, Leon; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Dave Joseph is survived by his wife of 53 years, |
15 | | Sharyn; his children, David II (Tressa), Bill (Shelly), Dan |
16 | | (Kelly), Bryan (Olivia), Denise (John) Navetta, and Brad |
17 | | (Sheena); his 22 grandchildren, Connor, Spencer, Alyssa, |
18 | | Christian, David III, Zachary, Natalie, Carmen, Charlie, |
19 | | Maria, Ashley, Blake, Joey, Katie, Annabelle, Brianna, Jack, |
20 | | Gianna, Faith, Johnny, Molly, and Jude; and his brother, |
21 | | Maurice Joseph; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | David S. "Dave" Joseph and extend our sincere condolences to |
4 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
5 | | further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Dave Joseph as an expression of our |
8 | | deepest sympathy.
