| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | ||||||
| 3 | saddened to learn of the death of John B. Gerber of | ||||||
| 4 | Carlinville, who passed away on August 5, 2012; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Gerber was born on January 30, 1916, in | ||||||
| 6 | Carlinville to Charles Henry and Agnus Martha Gerber (nee | ||||||
| 7 | Boente); he graduated from Carlinville High School in 1936, and | ||||||
| 8 | was in the U.S. Army Air Force Air Transport Command from 1942 | ||||||
| 9 | to 1945, serving in Europe, Asia, and Africa; he married | ||||||
| 10 | Dorothy Drury on December 23, 1945, in Washington, D.C.; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, John Gerber started off as a partner in running a | ||||||
| 12 | grocery store before he began running a Mobil oil and gasoline | ||||||
| 13 | distributorship, which he operated until his retirement in | ||||||
| 14 | 1976; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, John Gerber was a member of St. Mary and Joseph | ||||||
| 16 | Catholic Church in Carlinville and was an active member of the | ||||||
| 17 | Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412, Guy Baird American Legion Post | ||||||
| 18 | #544, the Country Kuzins Square Dancing Club, and the | ||||||
| 19 | Carlinville Wing RV Camping Club; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, John Gerber was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
| 21 | Dorothy; his son, Jeremy Gerber; his brother, Charles Gerber; | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and his sisters, Agnes Tipps and Marjorie Repasky; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, John Gerber is survived by his children, Donna | ||||||
| 3 | (Carl) Kasten, Mary Therese Gerber, and Dennis Gerber; his | ||||||
| 4 | grandchildren, Heather DeNeve, Toni Gotcher, Nathan Gerber, | ||||||
| 5 | and Martin Kasten; his 8 great-grandchildren; and several | ||||||
| 6 | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 9 | John Gerber, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 11 | further
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to the family of John Gerber as an expression of our | ||||||
| 14 | deepest sympathy.
