2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Deborah Bryant, who passed away on |
4 | | April 17, 2024; and

5 | | WHEREAS, Deborah Bryant was born to LaVonia (Mann) Hamlin |
6 | | and James Shaw in Brownsville, Tennessee; she attended |
7 | | Fernwood Elementary School, St. Helena Catholic School, and |
8 | | Harlan High School before furthering her studies at Olive |
9 | | Harvey College; she married Lawrence Bryant, and they had one |
10 | | daughter, Lauren Bryant; she later selflessly adopted five |
11 | | children as her own, Katelin, James, Xavier, Rose, and Davis; |
12 | | and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Deborah Bryant made impactful contributions |
14 | | throughout her professional career at a number of esteemed |
15 | | institutions, including Cook County Hospital, Michael Reese |
16 | | Hospital, RR Donnelley Publishing, and the MetroMail |
17 | | Corporation; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Deborah Bryant resided in the Village of Hazel |
19 | | Crest for 35 years, where she became a familiar and beloved |
20 | | figure on the block of Longfellow Avenue; her vibrant spirit |
21 | | lit up every gathering, and she reveled in the joy of |
22 | | socializing, stepping, dancing, and sharing laughter with |
