| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of David Alan Hickox of South | ||||||
4 | Jacksonville, who passed away on March 24, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, David Hickox was born in Chicago to Willard D. | ||||||
6 | "Sonny" and Joann Powell Hickox on May 30, 1957; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Jacksonville High School in 1975 and married Crystal Wade | ||||||
8 | at the Annie Merner Chapel in Jacksonville on August 27, 1977; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, David Hickox worked briefly in the dietary | ||||||
11 | department at the Jacksonville Developmental Center before | ||||||
12 | pursuing his true calling as a public servant; he began his | ||||||
13 | career with Superior Ambulance in Jacksonville while joining | ||||||
14 | the South Jacksonville Fire Department in 1978; he served as a | ||||||
15 | paramedic for Passavant Area Hospital from 1990 to 1997 and | ||||||
16 | became chief of the South Jacksonville Fire Department in | ||||||
17 | 1997; he also taught CPR and served as a member of the Virginia | ||||||
18 | ambulance and Beardstown fire and ambulance squads; he ended | ||||||
19 | his career as a fireman in 2018; and

20 | WHEREAS, David Hickox spent time as a courier for FedEx | ||||||
21 | from 1998 to 2022; he was a popular visitor to Jacksonville | ||||||
22 | area residences and businesses, always arriving with a smile |

1 | and a kind word; his desire to help others carried over to his | ||||||
2 | FedEx work as he was known to offer aid to others while | ||||||
3 | covering his route; he was awarded the FedEx Humanitarian | ||||||
4 | Award in 2002; and

5 | WHEREAS, David Hickox was a devoted husband, father, | ||||||
6 | grandfather, and friend; he was proud of his children and | ||||||
7 | grandchildren and their many accomplishments and successes; he | ||||||
8 | enjoyed attending their events and offering encouragement; he | ||||||
9 | also enjoyed attending NASCAR races; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, David Hickox was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
11 | and his brother-in-law, Steve; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, David Hickox is survived by his wife, Crystal; | ||||||
13 | his children, Jason (Tiffany) Hickox and Cortney (Bobby) | ||||||
14 | Bonjean; his grandchildren, Riley, Lily, and Easton Hickox and | ||||||
15 | Claire and Tatum Bonjean; his sister, Beverly Hickox Whitton; | ||||||
16 | and his brothers, Billy (Denise) and Gary (Jean) Hickox; | ||||||
17 | therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | David Alan Hickox and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
21 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
22 | further
