SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Blount of East Moline,
4who passed away on February 14, 2022; and
5 WHEREAS, Bob Blount was born to John and Margaret (Wills)
6Blount in Brooklyn, New York on May 2, 1941; he served in the
7U.S. Army First Calvary during the Vietnam War; he married
8Ruth Groharing in Hampton on October 23, 1978; and
9 WHEREAS, Bob Blount retired from the John Deere Foundry
10after 30 years of service; and
11 WHEREAS, Bob Blount was very competitive; he was an avid
12bicyclist and participated in many events over the years; he
13built and raced cars and boats, and he ran many biathlons and
14triathlons; he enjoyed playing handball at the YMCA with his
15friends and hiking in the country with his wife; and
16 WHEREAS, Bob Blount was preceded in death by his parents
17and his sister, Linda Papandrea; and
18 WHEREAS, Bob Blount is survived by his wife, Ruth; his
19children, Anne Blount, Janie Blount, and Brook (Lisa) Garman;
20his grandchildren, Angelo Williams, Jaylen Frazier, and Alexia

1Garman; and his siblings, Diane (Victor) Bast and Joe Blount;
2therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Robert "Bob" Blount and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Bob Blount as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
