1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Delores Jane "Dodie" Corser of McHenry, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on August 15, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Delores Corser was born in Waukegan to Leo W. and | ||||||
6 | Erna A. Corser (Zahn) on March 26, 1934; she was an | ||||||
7 | accomplished athlete in her youth, excelling at every sport in | ||||||
8 | which she participated; she graduated from Waukegan High School | ||||||
9 | in 1952 and was the pitcher on a number of fast-pitch softball | ||||||
10 | teams during her high school and post-high school years in the | ||||||
11 | 1950s and 1960s; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Delores Corser took a position in the accounting | ||||||
13 | department at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago; she retired | ||||||
14 | in the late 1980s after working at Abbott for 35 years; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Delores Corser lived on the banks of the Fox River | ||||||
16 | in McHenry for almost 40 years; she purchased her first house | ||||||
17 | with her dear friend, Juanita "Wink" Nohava (Dill) in the | ||||||
18 | 1970s; she moved to The Villas in 2009; and

19 | WHEREAS, Delores Corser was a highly skilled bowler and a | ||||||
20 | key member of all the teams on which she bowled; her teams won | ||||||
21 | dozens of tournaments and trophies throughout the midwest in |

1 | the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s; she also was an avid amateur | ||||||
2 | golfer all her life; she was proud of the 115-yard hole-in-one | ||||||
3 | she hit with her seven iron on May 31, 1999 at the Boone Creek | ||||||
4 | Golf Club; she was always ready to take her family, friends, | ||||||
5 | and other guests on a "cruise on the Fox" in the boat she kept | ||||||
6 | moored at the dock right out the back door of her house; and

7 | WHEREAS, Delores Corser was preceded in death by her | ||||||
8 | parents and her older sister, Jacqueline Joanne Corser Barker; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Delores Corser is survived by her niece, Joanne | ||||||
11 | Csukor; her nephews, John Barker and Jeff Barker; many | ||||||
12 | great-nephews and great-nieces in Illinois and Wisconsin; and | ||||||
13 | numerous friends throughout Lake County and the entire | ||||||
14 | Chicagoland area; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Delores Jane "Dodie" Corser, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
18 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
19 | it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Delores Corser as an expression of | ||||||
22 | our deepest sympathy.
