2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Rose A. Jurkovac, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | August 20, 2017, at the age of 104; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac was born in Waukegan to Jacob and | ||||||
6 | Mary
Smole on September 2, 1912; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac was employed by the US Envelope | ||||||
8 | Company for 32 years until her retirement in 1976; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac was a former member of Mother of God | ||||||
10 | Church and Queen of Peace Church; she was active in numerous | ||||||
11 | organizations: St. Anne's and St. Joseph KSKJ Lodges, the | ||||||
12 | Croatian Fraternal Union of America Lodge 75, the Steel Workers | ||||||
13 | Retirees Club, The Pensioners Club of Slovenska Pristava, | ||||||
14 | Waukegan/North Chicago Senior Citizens, the Catholic Women's | ||||||
15 | Club, the St. Therese Auxiliary, and the AARP Lake County | ||||||
16 | Chapter 150; she volunteered for many years with the | ||||||
17 | American-Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzans, working as the | ||||||
18 | cashier for their Friday night fish fry; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac cherished her family and friends and | ||||||
20 | had an
overwhelming love for animals; a stray dog or cat always | ||||||
21 | found a loving home with her; and

1 | WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac was preceded in death by her | ||||||
2 | husband, Emil; her parents; her brothers and sisters, Mary, | ||||||
3 | John, Sophie, and Frank; and an extended family
granddaughter, | ||||||

5 | WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac is survived by her children, Robert | ||||||
6 | Jurkovac, Richard (Pam)
Jurkovac, and Carol (Jim) McDonough; | ||||||
7 | her grandchildren, Chip (Peggy) Jurkovac, Cindy
(John) | ||||||
8 | Zucarro, Ronnie (Lisa) Martin, Ryan McDonough, Kyle (Layla) | ||||||

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Rose A. Jurkovac, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
19 | further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Rose Jurkovac as an expression of | ||||||
22 | our deepest sympathy.
