SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Bernard E. "Bernie" Drew of Libertyville,
who passed away on November 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Bernie Drew was born and raised in Waukegan; he
received his undergraduate degree from Miami of Ohio in 1964
and his Juris Doctorate from Marquette University; and
WHEREAS, Bernie Drew started his law career in private
practice; he was appointed an associate judge in 1975, one of
the youngest to hold this position in Lake County; he was
elected circuit judge in 1984 and retained in 1990 and 1996; he
was the chief judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court in 1989
and 1990; and
WHEREAS, Bernie Drew loved being involved in his children's
lives; he was especially fond of coaching Libertyville Boys
Club Football; and
WHEREAS, Bernie Drew is survived by his wife of 50 years,
Lauren; his children, Chris and Meg; his niece and nephews,
Jodie Bryan, Alan Nogle, Justin Houcek, and Andrew Houcek; and
his extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Bernard E. "Bernie" Drew and extend our sincere condolences to
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Bernie Drew as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
