| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Michael "Tuna" McElroy of Decatur, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on July 17, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Michael McElroy was born in Aurora on March 2, | ||||||
| 6 | 1952 to Dick and Betty McElroy; he graduated from
St. Teresa | ||||||
| 7 | High School in 1970 and went on to receive an associate's | ||||||
| 8 | degree from Danville
Area Community College; he married Lynn | ||||||
| 9 | Tuttle on June 21, 1980 in Danville; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Michael McElroy served as the Vice-President of | ||||||
| 11 | Skeff Distributing Company; he served on Decatur's City
Council | ||||||
| 12 | from 2003 through 2009, and as Mayor of Decatur for the past 6 | ||||||
| 13 | years; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Michael McElroy was a member of
Holy Family | ||||||
| 15 | Catholic Church; he served on the board of directors for the | ||||||
| 16 | Association
of Beer Distributors of Illinois, the Illinois | ||||||
| 17 | Municipal League, the YMCA, Friends of St. Mary's, the St. | ||||||
| 18 | Teresa Development
Board, the Summer Start Festival, the | ||||||
| 19 | Knights of Columbus, and the Danville Area Convention and | ||||||
| 20 | Visitors' Bureau; he was past
President of the Danville | ||||||
| 21 | Jaycess, past United States JCI Senator, and former State | ||||||
| 22 | Muscular Dystrophy Chair; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Michael McElroy was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 2 | parents; his in-laws, Jim and Ginny
Tuttle; and his sister, | ||||||
| 3 | Anne McElroy; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Michael McElroy is survived by wife of 35 years, | ||||||
| 5 | Lynn; his son, Matt (Christina); his siblings, Pat, Tim | ||||||
| 6 | (Leslie), and
Ellen; his brother-in-law, Lee Tuttle; his nieces | ||||||
| 7 | and nephews, Hilary and Colin Runion, Conor,
Brennan, and Dixie | ||||||
| 8 | McElroy, Byrnes Kenworth, and Colleen (Jarid) Thompson and | ||||||
| 9 | great-niece,
Remi; Hayden Athey; Greg (Annie) and Maggie | ||||||
| 10 | Tuttle; therefore, be it

| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 13 | Michael "Tuna" McElroy, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 14 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 15 | further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Michael McElroy as an expression of | ||||||
| 18 | our deepest sympathy.
