| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Vernon V. "Vern" Bryant of Colona, who |
| 4 | | passed away on October 19, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Vern Bryant was born in Muscatine, Iowa to Verldi |
| 6 | | and Margaret Bramble Bryant on December 29, 1928; he served in |
| 7 | | the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and married Virginia |
| 8 | | Hughes in Muscatine on July 15, 1955; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Vern Bryant worked for Case Rock Island from 1948 |
| 10 | | to 1953 and Ben's Nursery until 1954; he was the caretaker at |
| 11 | | Greenview Memorial Gardens since 1954, retiring after 56 years; |
| 12 | | beginning in May of 1963, he also was a member of the Green |
| 13 | | Rock Police Force for 28 years and served as chief of police |
| 14 | | for many of those years; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Vern Bryant was preceded in death by his parents |
| 16 | | and his sisters, Darlene and Donna; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Vern Bryant is survived by his wife, Virginia; his |
| 18 | | sons, Randal (Donna) and Lyndal (Sheila Kelley) Bryant; his |
| 19 | | grandchildren, Eric (Charity), Lindsay, Devin, Drew, Logan, |
| 20 | | and Landon; many great-grandchildren; his brother, Bob |
| 21 | | (Rosemary) Bryant; and his sister, Nancy (Gene) Garvin; |
